Dentistry

Oral health is extremely important for the health of our pets. Any change in the mouth, whether unnoticed or overlooked, can result in serious systemic complications. In order to ensure healthy teeth and fresh breath for our patients, we provide them with comprehensive dental care from an early age.

The most important procedures we perform in the oral cavity include:

Removal of retained deciduous teeth – the physiological replacement of permanent teeth with deciduous teeth lasts until the age of 6 months. Failure to remove retained teeth can lead to crowding, pathological displacement, and malocclusion. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia using two methods: an infusion regimen with short-acting anesthetics and inhalation anesthesia with anesthetic gases such as Isoflurane or Sevoflurane.

Extraction of single- and multi-rooted teeth – we perform this procedure in cases of malocclusion, irreversible damage to the pulp or dentin, supernumerary teeth, and periapical abscesses. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, using professional dental instruments such as Meissner and Berten extraction forceps, Baim and Schlemm levers, and a prosthetic drill with a diamond burr.

Tartar removal – the presence of tartar can lead to periodontal disease. Symptoms may include unpleasant mouth odor, aversion to eating, red gums, exposed tooth necks, and loose teeth. Tartar removal is performed under general anesthesia using an ultrasonic scaler, known as a piezoelectric scaler. After scaling the teeth, we use a polishing brush and hydroxyapatite paste for smoothing the tooth surface and delay the formation of bacterial plaque.

Removal of periapical abscesses – we perform this procedure under general anesthesia, removing the abscesses along with the tooth where the lesion is formed.

Surgical treatment of proliferative lesions in the oral cavity – we remove lesions under general anesthesia, using diathermy to minimize bleeding, while maintaining an appropriate safety margin.

Correction and extraction of teeth in rodents and lagomorphs – we perform these procedures to avoid injuries to the cheeks, improve food intake and correct malocclusion.

Treatment of periodontal disease (periodontopathy) – we use both pharmacological and surgical therapies, tailored to the individual clinical case.

Specialist consultations are available at our clinic. General dental appointments are conducted by all veterinarians at our clinic.
